Modal split survey

Modal split survey 2021

How mobile are the citizens in the district of Lüchow-Dannenberg?

What journeys are made within and between the district's joint municipalities and to towns and municipalities outside the district? Which means of transport are used for which journeys, e.g. shopping, leisure time, work? Why are some means of transport used rather little and where are deficits seen and improvements in the transport offer desired?

In order to obtain answers to these and other questions, a household survey on mobility behaviour in Lüchow-Dannenberg was conducted in spring 2021. Of the 2,860 households from all towns and municipalities in the district of Lüchow-Dannenberg selected in a random sample, 24% of the households took part in the survey. In the process, 1,264 people aged six and over, corresponding to 2.6% of the Lüchow-Dannenberg population, logged a total of 3,658 trips on one of the six specified reference dates in June 2021. The comprehensive results of the survey, which was conducted on a voluntary basis, allow representative statements to be made on mobility behaviour in the entire district area and in part also differentiated for the three joint municipalities Elbtalaue, Gartow and Lüchow. This brochure contains a small excerpt of the most important results of the mobility survey.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those involved in the survey, in particular all the participating citizens of the Lüchow-Dannenberg district, for their cooperation! It was only with their support that the results now available on mobility in Lüchow-Dannenberg could be compiled.
